Jane Winkworth

A new chapter October 26th 2017

I spent this summer at my villa in Portugal with my family and grandchildren who were visiting from their home in California. Lovely long days spent at the beach - mainly watching out for huge and horrible Portuguese “Man of War” jelly fish!

In my long absence, French Sole was quietly sold and taken efficiently into new owner/management, so I can now relax and say officially “I have retired”.

However, I will continue as an advisor on all areas of the business and of course with new design strategies and move forward this is an exciting phase of my life as I begin to see the brilliant new plans for French Sole and also for London Sole in the future. I will continue to share all my tips and advice about shoes, the etiquette of shoes, shoe designers, correct footwear, style and of course my passion for jewellery and also an insight into my homes, family and lifestyle.

I never really took working very seriously and my mission was always to develop a synergy of charitable giving as well as selling the shoes and growing the business and I am very proud to say that hundreds of thousands of pounds over the years have been donated to a variety of charities and great causes and last year, together with Rosie Fortescue we donated over £50,000 to our beloved Battersea Dogs and Cats Home!! All generated by the Little Dax shoe.

French Sole continues, for the third year it's massively successful Pop-Up store at Bicester Village opens, followed early in the New Year with their permanent Bicester Village store. I have to say that already there is an air of excitement building up with customers from around the world wanting to know exactly where the store will be located - I can tell you the opening day will be November 16th and you will find us at 6B, our immediate neighbours are Ted Baker and Anya Hindmarsh and what better neighbours could we wish for?

Keep a look out the coming weeks as I will be launching a competition to promote the launch of this new store!

Moving forward, French Sole and London Sole will be venturing into the men's footwear market with a huge collection of all our embroidered smoking slippers being offered in all the men's size ranges - super exciting! The embroidered Hefners are taking over the market now with their unusual designs, superb quality and fit and very affordable prices - so watch this space.
